Almost every one of us would have come across a situation where you have run out of battery power. This will cause great annoyance and prevent you from doing some important tasks. The solar freeloader classic is just the right answer for people who are always on the move and face such problems. Apart from that, it is also a good cause for using the device as it uses the solar energy for functioning. When compared to similar other gadgets, it is known to top the list.

Features

The solar charger uses one 1200 mAh battery. The battery is quite bigger than the standard size battery used by most of the popular devices but smaller than those used by the smartphones. It may not supply you with the full charge for the devices you need to use. There are nine plugs that slot into a cable that can be plugged into a standard USB slot. When the sun is out, the charger can absorb the rays quickly. It may take a few hours for it to discharge its load completely. The solar freeloader can multitask as well. It comes with removable panel modules and gives you about 8 hours charge time.

Specifications

The freeloader classic is a well made device that comes with a battery. So there is no need to spot the sun the minute you lose your charge. The outer shell of the device is coated with aluminum and is split into three parts. Two solar charging panels and a battery. When the device is not charging, the panels can be hooked inside and safe with the help of the aluminum cover. The small size lets you carry it anywhere you like.

The solar freeloader classic is just not a device to throw away after use. You can take it anywhere you like and charge your devices using the solar power. The solar ‘sandwich’ can be pulled apart and plugged when you want it to function as a charger. The panels are quite strong and better made than similar other devices that come for affordable prices. There are two USB ports on the left side of the battery. One is full size and the other a mini USB slot. The first slot can be used for charging different adapters while the smaller slot can be used for charging a PC for getting at least a 3 hour charge. This feature is really useful during the summer and winter months. It also boosts the flexibility of the gadget greatly.

High points

Another advantage is the easy availability of the extra battery units and they are able to hold their well too. There is a tiny backlit LCD display that lights up and displays icons for the battery level. You can know whether the device is connected, getting charged and whether the panels are picking up the charge. When the panel is exposed to sunlight, it sucks in about 150 mAh. This means that it can take about 10 hours for charging the battery full. It takes only 3 hours for USB charging. The secondary charging method is very beneficial that can be done by removing the panels. This gives you a good portable package.

When the device is exposed to the sun, the charge is drawn by both the panels separately. You can see the charging icons appear on the LCD screen. Though blazing sunlight is not necessary, it can use the natural sunlight usually found outdoors on a clear day.

Low points

Though a well made design, it takes quite a lot of time for charging the battery completely. The battery isn’t powerful either. Sometimes, you can hear a high-pitched noise while charging any device. Does not function well indoors.

Price

The cost of the device is about $64.00.
