Sneak Peek: Samsung GT-i9300 photos cause stir, controversy

Leaked photo of the supposed Samsung GT-i9300 has caused a lot of excitement, but also controversy as to whether the photo is real. Though it appears convincing with elements like the Android Ice Cream Sandwich UI and integrated with TouchWiz overlay apps, it is still uncertain if the GT-i9300 codename represents the coveted phone.Samsung GT-i9300

Plainly obvious is the distinct markings between the two phones, the GT-i9100 and the GT-i9250 are the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Nexus respectively.

The public wants the GT-i9300 featured on the Samsung’s official website to be the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S III, but the leaked UAP profile lists the phone’s resolution as 1024×600. There is a strong possibility that the phone is not what it claims to be. While the device has aspects of the Galaxy S profile design, tell-tale signs are evident that it is another model. It has an Android ICS navigational key strip and buttonless front, not to mention it has TouchWiz-ed Ice Cream Sandwich software and fitted with Samsung’s Music and Video Hubs, S Suggest apps, the S Memo and S Planner.

The Samsung logo has been shifted to the lower part of the display; the change in position makes it very different from the Galaxy line and marked as a US model like the AT&T’s Galaxy S II.

The screen is not bezelless or not even the thinner version of it so it is unlikely to be the expectant Galaxy B. Also, the sides are protected by a protective bumper, which raise questions that it was added to prevent further scrutiny.

Finally, the Galaxy S II Plus has notable features like a dual 1.5GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor. Contrary to the ICS workability mentioned in the picture, the device runs on Gingerbread.

Overall review shows too many inconsistencies so it is better to be wary of unsourced pictures.
