At MWC 2012, Nvidia provided a preview of some games on devices which had Tegra 3. To be honest, Tegra 3 provides a true gaming experience unlike any other smartphone processor. Tegra 3 boasts upto 60 percent lower power consumption. It is a PC class CPU which is five times faster GPU than its ancestor Tegra 2. Lower power consumption would result in a 12 hours of playback on HD content. The processor first was featured in ASUS Transformer Prime. Right now a lot of smartphones are available with Nvidia Tegra 3 like HTC’s One X, LG Optimus 4X HD, ZTE Era, K-Touch Treasure v8 and Fujitsu’s smartphone.
Tegra 3 has four main cores with an additional fifth core which works as a companion core. The fifth core is a little slower then rest of the four cores and has a maximum clock speed of 500 MHz. This fifth core helps in saving the battery hence increasing the efficiency. This fifth core comes into role when none of the cores are working hence saves power. This processor also provides a great graphic performance while playing games. This also supports stereoscopic 3D.
Nvidia announced release of a few games at MWC this time with no new hardware displays. The release games include Golden Arrow, Dark Kingdom, Eden to GREEEEN, Hamilton’s Great Adventure and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II. Nvidia worked along with game developers to produce the extraordinary in smartphone gaming.
Tegra 3 would provide unbeatable graphic processing for smooth and frameless flow. With Tegra 3, games would display motion blur and camera splash effects. Devices powered with Tegra 3 would be able to provide fast app access which is expected to be at least twice as other smartphones. The processor would also provide a up to 4 times faster web access. With performance and increased efficiency, this is a new standard set in manufacturing of processors. The smartphones now are on a war of power and it is obvious that devices with Tegra 3 are going to have an edge over the rest for now. It is going to be very interesting to watch what other manufacturers would do to compete with Nvidia Tegra 3.
