Moto G is quite an important phone for Motorola, as it has been some time now that they released a new phone in the market. It has superb specs for its prices as compared to other big competitors in the market. Moto G is an Android smart phone with good performance and excellent features and in this review; we will look at them in detail.
Design and Build
Moto G comes with rounded corners, curved back, a back panel, which is swappable and fits easily in your hand. It weighs about 143g and is almost 11.6mm thick that are excellent specs when compared to other competitors. It also comes with water resistant layer on the inside to protect the phone from light splashes.
Moto G has capacitive touch screen and boasts of HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels with 326ppi pixel density and a TFT panel of 4.5 inches. Sharpness level is excellent with good quality color depth and wide viewing angles.
Hardware & Storage
As part of hardware specifications, you get 3G support with HSPA+ and data speeds are also very good. Along with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS and robust connectivity available on Wi-Fi, the phone surpasses the expectations.
In terms of storage, you get 16GB and 8GB option to choose from with a marginal price difference between the two. However, microSD is missing in Moto G, which some buyers will not like.
Software & User Interface
The smart phone operates on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and provides exceptional latency optimization. In UI, you get expanded notification menu feature, unique gesture controls and easily assessable settings menu, making it simpler to perform different tasks. Another thing worth mentioning is that by January 2014, the OS will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, which is the latest version.
Processor is a quad core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with RAM of 1GB and has graphics processing unit as well. Due to this high end processor, multitasking and changing between screens is smooth and the apps load fast.
Battery & Camera
The 2,070mAh battery can last few days with moderate use such as browsing, sending messages, social networking and occasional calls. Moto G also gives about five to six hours of video playback with auto brightness set on.
Camera that is a 5-megapixel one is an average one but for this price and other hardware specs, buyers will accept it. Color reproduction and level of details are good if pictures are taken in good light conditions. Other good thing about the camera is that it allows panoramic capture and slow motion video, which is mostly seen in high-end phones only.
