Organization can train their staff on a number of key subject areas like humanitarian principles, security risk management, and operational planning. The staff needs more tools and techniques to be access real time information on disaster before they arrived. We have some apps that will help the staff and any other volunteers for the preparation and respond to disaster.
American Red Cross Apps
There are many apps such as First Aid, Floods, Tornados, Earthquakes, Wildfires, Hurricanes, Volunteer, and Shelter Finder. These include quizzes and simple systematic advice. It will be very useful to you if you live in the areas prone to natural disaster.
Disaster Alert
It provides mobile access to multi-hazard monitoring and warning for Active Hazards around you. You can use and share information and reports about hazards for free.
Global Emergency Overview (ACAPS)
It contains updated information and provides a snapshot of current humanitarian priorities and events held recently. The primary objective of the Global Overview is to inform humanitarian decision by presenting a summary of humanitarian crises.
Humanitarian Kiosk
This application provides up to date humanitarian information from emergencies around the world. The application contains multiple kiosks that reflects location where is an ongoing international humanitarian emergency.
Federal Emergency Management App
FEMA, Smartphone app for mobile devices contains disaster safety tips, interactive emergency kit list, meeting location information and a map with open shelters, information how to stay safe and recover after disaster, FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers.
DisasasterReady.org is working with its partners to develop and publish mobile courses to better preparedness and response humanitarian aid workers. You can register to this link and access free library courses and notified about mobile courses in summer 2014.
WISER
The WISER (Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders) database provides information on chemical, biological and radiological threats. It is a great app for one looking for the support in emergencies. It provides information of a great quality for each threat.
The app provides rapid access to the most important information about a hazardous substance by an intelligent synopsis engine and display called “Key Info.” It has an intuitive, simple, logical user interface developed by working with experienced first responder.
