Samsung Stratosphere vs. Motorola Droid Bionic

The challenge

Here we compare two recent Android smartphones on Verizon Wireless; Samsung Stratosphere and Motorola Droid Bionic. These Gingerbread smartphones landed on the carrier in the third quarter of the year. Stratosphere is actually a Samsung Galaxy S series phone, and it has been doing great in the market since its release. You have breakthrough performance, brilliant Super AMOLED display and Android 2.3, Gingerbread on Stratosphere.

On the other hand, Droid Bionic is one of largely awaited smartphones this year. Motorola put Droid Bionic on display at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 in January this year. But citing the need for some important hardware and software modifications, Motorola delayed Droid Bionic’s release until September this year. Whatever, on its arrival, the smartphone received rave reviews from both consumers and analysts. Get through the article to see a detailed comparison between the high-end Android smartphones.

Both Droid Bionic and Stratosphere came into stores with Android 2.3, Gingerbread, the smartphone specific version of Android, Google’s famous mobile operating system. Winner

In the comparison above, the winner is obviously clear. Motorola Droid Bionic has beaten its Samsung rival in almost all parameters elaborated above. Becoming more recent smartphone, Droid Bionic is equipped with a dual core processor, 4G LTE, better display, advanced memory options and connectivity features. Indeed, these points make Droid Bionic a winner in the comparison.

The verdict

Motorola Droid Bionic is rightly the first dual core and 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon Wireless. The Libertyville technology maker showcased prototype of the device with much media attention at CES 2011 in January. But the company could not roll out the device in the CES announced date (April 2011). Motorola could only surface Droid Bionic in the second week of September after some modifications that made it a Gingerbread phone. By then, other dual core 4G LTE smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S II were almost ready for launch on Verizon. That is why, Droid Bionic failed to get the expected level of attraction in the U.S market.

Samsung Stratosphere is, of course, a brilliant Android smartphone. The device is indeed one of successful Android smartphones in market. Being a Samsung product, it has a magnificent AMOLED display, camera and other features. However, Stratosphere is not capable enough to raise serious threats to phones like Motorola Droid Bionic, one of the best Android smartphones ever. Here the battle between Stratosphere and Droid Bionic becomes less rigorous.
