LG Thrill 4G
LG Thrill 4G, named LG Optimus 3D in global markets, is an appealing glasses-free 3D smartphone. LG Thrill 4G is one of AT&T’s prestigious Android smartphones in the U.S. The Android 2.2-based Froyo LG smartphone has several remarkable features and tech specs. A dual-core 1 GHz TI OMAP 4 processor, 4.3-inch 3D display and two 5-megapixel 3D cameras make the LG phone a really smart gadget, indeed.

What is it

LG Thrill 4G is a perfect 3D smartphone. Definitely, the major feature of the smartphone is its 3D capability. The Korean company has launched the device in two different names across the global markets. In European countries, the smartphone is known as LG Optimus 3D, but in the U.S., it is Thrill 4G. The device is built up with solid materials. When it comes to the 3D feature, several reviewers have lauded LG Thrill 4G over its major rival in the market HTC EVO 3D, thanks to the former’s better viewing angles. It is also a 4G smartphone. AT&T’s 4G LTE connectivity will provide better internet speed.

Key features

LG Thrill 4G mounts a large 4.3-inch LCD display that has a WVGA resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Of course, the smartphone is famous for its amazingly great viewing angles. The gadget runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, but is upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Dual cameras in the rear panel help capture 3D images and videos. As per analysts, LG Thrill 4G generates superior 3D images and videos. A 1.3-megapixel camera is there in the front panel for video chatting.

What’s innovative

What is innovative with the device is its glasses-free 3D display. Three dimensional displays always require the spectators to wear a pair of special spectacles. But you can view 3D contents on LG Thrill 4G even without the glasses. Watching 3D images and videos taken on the device is also a great experience.

Price and availability

AT&T has just unveiled LG Thrill 4G in the U.S. The carrier sells the smartphone for $100 on a two-year contract. Meanwhile, Radio Shack sells the smartphone for $79.99 for a two-year agreement. You can also buy a model without the contract on spending $550.

Accessories

LG Thrill 4G is bundled with a microUSB cable, AC charger, 8GB microSD card, microHDMI cable and Quickstart guide.

The upside

Apart from its much-appreciated 3D feature, LG Thrill 4G has enhanced streaming options. You can connect the phone with HDMI TVs to stream video and image contents. The phone’s better quality speaker and larger display have also been extolled by analysts. A set of other features like conference calling, text and multimedia messaging, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 8GB built-in memory and 8GB microSD memory make the device a nice smartphone in the market.

The downside

Being one of chief drawbacks, analysts have pointed out the heavy size of LG Thrill 4G. Indeed, the smartphone is a bit heavier than most of other LG products. The device’s 1.3-megapixel front camera could have been far better.

Our experience

LG Thrill 4G has been reviewed by customers as performing good. Customers have adorned the device as it is one of primary 3D smartphones in the market. Though 3D has not gained enough popularity among mobile users, LG Thrill 4G and its chief rival HTC EVO 3D have attracted enough customers.

The bottom line

LG Thrill 4G came into the market in competition to HTC EVO 3D and other 3D smartphones. Of course, the product is doing rounds in the market mainly because it is one of the first 3D smartphones. Several other features such as an advanced processor, larger display and Android OS have made the smartphone a shining product.
