HTC Evo 3D

Over the last few years, mobile technology has grown quite rapidly. We live in an era, where the demands are always one step ahead of the technology available. Still the mobile companies put their full effort in delivering the customers’ expectations. 3D viewing has now become a symbol of excellence.

In the last couple of years we have seen a huge boom in the 3D television market. Now it’s the mobile companies that are targeting more customers by implementing 3D on their smartphones. One such company is HTC which recently launched its smartphone EVO 3D. This smartphone can be used without 3D glasses. Let’s know all about the EVO 3D in detail:

What is it:

HTC EVO 3D is the latest edition to the ever growing list of smartphones that are released every month the only difference being that the display is not just a High Definition one but also 3D enabled. Leading smart phone maker HTC, unveiled its new HTC EVO 3D that can display 3D images without any special glasses. It incidentally also has an option to record 3D images through its inbuilt camera.

Key features:

The 3.4 inch HD 3D screen is the main USP of this product having a resolution of 540×960. The Phone is rich in color and the sharp images make the large screen even more unique. The screen is a 3D enabled phone where one can view 3D images without using any special glasses. All the phone is a bit big, at 170 gm it comes on a lighter side compared to its earlier HTC desire.

HTC EVO 3D runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and has a 1.2 GHz processor with a 1 GB of RAM. The phone has an impressive 4GB of internal memory and comes with an 8 GB micro SD. The mobile has an inbuilt 5 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera for video conferencing. In addition to this, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth 3.0 to ensure high-speed surfing and sharing.

What’s innovative:

HTC EVO 3D has an advanced and faster high definition camcorder enabling us to capture pictures without any delay. A special button on the side of your phone lets you shoot 2D or 3D images at your will. Apart from LG Optimus 3G, currently there are no 3D enabled smartphones in the market. HDMI connection lets you share your photos and videos to your big TV to give you more flexibility.

Price and availability:

The HTC EVO 3D is priced at Rs 35,990 in India and in United States it is available at a contract of 2 years for $199.

Accessories:

Some of the best accessories include a HTC EVO 3D kickstand, battery chargers, car docks and mounts. You might also buy a screen guard that will protect the huge screen from any damage. The mobile comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack that can be connected with a stereo headset that HTC offers with the phone and a micro-USB port with a high definition video link or HDMI connection. The Phone also allows Wi-Fi and USB tethering so that you can use the Internet connection on your desktop or laptop.

The up side:

The best feature is definitely the 1.2 Ghz processor that makes running applications and games extremely faster giving an enhanced user experience. 4G connection can give the speed that everyone wants and tethering allows the sharing easier than ever. 4.3 Inch HD and 3D enabled screen is just an awesome combo that none can resist.

The down side:

4G can be taken as a con as well because only few cities have 4G connections. Cities like New York and Washington are yet to have a live 4G connectivity which makes the 4G feature almost useless. Despite the number of features that it supports, price can be deciding factor for many. A shabby 2MP 3D video recording shows that the feature still needs to be refined before production.

Our experience:

The overall experience was fantastic. The bright 4.3 inch display does attract you with the ultra sharp pictures. The browsing was faster and the applications ran faster than we thought it would be. Although, the camera takes amazing picture in 2D mode. 3D mode was not worth its hype as it does take some time to capture still images and the quality is also very much questionable.

The bottomline:

The overall product is good if do not just take the 3D factor into consideration. Apart from the shabby 3D camera, through which it is quite difficult to shoot live 3D images, the product does have its own pros. Touchscreen technology has always been the best part of HTC and with the dual core processor and a supported 4G feature, the new HTC EVO 3D take the mobile technology to whole new level. 3D or not, HTC EVO does make a good deal for everyone.
