Grow with Dr Prem

A television that functions on voice commands is sure to thrill many buyers bringing sci-fi whims to reality. Like all other hi-fi TVs; this model will also have a swanky flat screen, easily hook up with Apple equipment, connect to the internet and download movies with one more special addition – it can be controlled via voice directions. Now you will not have to rummage through the stuff piled on your couch to look for the remote or go through the drawers and closets. A few words spoken out loud and your television will comply with the directions provided. As Steve Jobs rightly said, this will be the simplest user interface in the market.

Pricing and availability

No words on the pricing yet. The product will hit the production belt in February and then be up for sale in the market around the summer of 2012. While few other sources speculate that the TV will be on shelves in 2013.

What’s great

This television will follow voice commands and can be controlled by gestures. There are sensors fitted on the TV that can detect gestures made by users and decipher which operation the viewer is trying to regulate. The television interprets gestures and voice commands given out by users and performs the required action or operation. In case, you do not want to give voice commands to the TV, a touch screen has also been built into the product as a backup technology.

iCloud compatibility

Another great feature of this iTV is that it can link up with iCloud easily. Thus you can easily download films on your television set. It can also hook up with a host of other services like YouTube and iTunes. In fact, the gadget can be synced with a number of devices. It is also compatible and will easily connect with a whole array of products and gizmos.

Voice control

There are already some gaming consoled and iPhones in the market that can be controlled with oral commands, but this iTV promises to take the technology a notch up. The mechanizations applied will be much better and more refined than those used in the past. Steve Jobs has also declared in his biography that he has cracked the code for a voice controlled television set. The idea took inspiration from the Siri ‘personal assistant.’ While handling this device, the maker realized that one could actually talk to it and set off operations. So this television incorporates the voice control technology from the Siri gizmo.

What’s not so great

The technology is still in development so we can only know of its efficiency when the product comes out. However skeptics have already started to chalk out drawbacks. An Enders Analysis technical expert, Benedict Evans has made a statement that people will have to watch closely how they move while watching this TV. If this is the case then the whole voice command system would not turn out to be very enjoyable.

Things to watch out for

Some people speculate that this technology is not all that terrific. You may have to keep an eye on your movements while watching television. That means you cannot be very animated while watching your favorite match or horror flick. Yells, screams, waving and hooting might just trigger off a command and change the settings on your television. That is definitely not great thing for TV viewing, especially for those who stay enthusiastic while they are glued to their sets.

Verdict

The ease of use will set the television apart from its competitors in the market. However, the technology incorporated should be hassle free, easy to manage and efficient. If this technology does turn out flawless then it will revolutionize the way the world watches TV and most definitely have a tremendous impact on the global television market.
