Yellowstone caldera floor rising 3 times faster than ever!

The earth’s crust and its elevation seems to be changing at a increasing pace than ever before along with the climate and temperature across the world. It hardly needs more than two generations to spot the distinct changes. The caldera floor of the Yellowstone National Park is also found to be moving upward at a rate more than three times greater than ever observed since 1923.

It is nearly 3 inches i.e. 7 centimeters per year; the floor is rising for the past three years. This is happening likely because of a Los Angeles-sized, pancake-shaped blob of molten rock that has boiled up 6 miles beneath the dormant giant.

It is since mid-2004, the Yellowstone ‘supervolcano’ rose at a record rate. Though the crustal magma chamber is found to be filling with molten rock, there is no clue to how long this process will go on before either it erupts or the molten rock-inflow stops to let the caldera deflate again.
