Eco Modular Living has breathed new life into portable cabins by transforming them as highly insulated, portable eco homes. It is quite interesting to see how a modular steel structure has shaped into an eco-friendly two-bedroom prototype. The eco home has highly insulated windows with glazed doors letting ample amounts of natural light in.
The company, an offshoot of the Catfoss Group, which buys, sells and hires portable structures, aims to achieve zero carbon specs by incorporating appropriate microgeneration add-ons. The features like green roofs, energy-efficient appliances, rainwater-harvesting system, smart monitoring, waste-water recycling system and regionally sourced materials can be included to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. Reusing the basic components of an existing building also saves the construction waste from going into the landfill.
This beautiful eco dwelling will be put on exhibit at Grand Designs Live in Birmingham from October 9 to October 11. Prices start at £60,000 for a basic living module opening avenues for a low cost, low emission living.
