Typhoon Fitow is ready to strike Japan and with it, fears of flooding rain, thunderstorms, landslides and gusty winds come calling.
This is typhoon season in Japan and the country is getting ready for Typhoon Fitow, also known as beautiful fragrant flower, which though not beautiful in terms of the devastation it can wreak, resulting in a total mayhem. Japan is particularly vulnerable to typhoons of strong intensity because of its location in the open Pacific surrounded by water on all sides. As typhoons or tropical storms develop over warm open oceans, areas of low atmospheric pressure call for strike by the typhoon, which is a giant vertical heat engine driven by rotation and gravity of the earth and deflected by the Coriolis force.
Typhoons usually result in thunderstorms, flooding rain brought from open oceans, hailstorms and landslides. And as earlier predictions forewarn of typhoon Fitow developing in the west Pacific to strike Japan, particularly Honshu, attaining Category 3 attaining speed over 130 mph before landfall, administration is busy evacuating coastal people to safer places, as fear of flash flooding increase.
As Fitow spreads its arms to pound Japan with spiraling clouds, towering thunderstorms and powerful tropical storm system, year 2007 will be remembered for the devastation wreaked by natural disasters all over the world.
