With so many reasons leading to climate change, it might appear confusing on what might be the best solution to climate change!
Just stop the loggers. It is perhaps the fastest and cheapest solution to climate change. Barring logging may mean cutting down on as much CO2 release into the atmosphere as 8 million people flying from London to New York do.
Then what’s wrong with the global leaders? Why are they turning a blind eye to logging? Is it simple politics or an unmatched backdoor earning?
We are busy worrying about vehicular and factory emissions. This again in turn, is providing scope to bigger powers to mint money out of the ‘buzzwords’ bio-fuels and hybrid cars. Its rather carbon emissions from deforestation, that far outstrip damage caused by any other emissions taken altogether.
Andrew Mitchell, the head of the GCP said,
Tropical forests are the elephant in the living room of climate change.
So, do we really need newer and newer technologies to combat climate change? No, the only thing we need is our global leaders’ political will and an enforcement system to check the trees from felling and illegal logging markets from booming.
