SKYShades to install Solarbrellas at Marymount High School

The San Diego-based SkyShades of Southern California (SoCal) will install four solar power generating Solarbrellas inside the campus of Marymount High School in West Los Angeles. The highly efficient solar canopies can produce 640 watts (h) on a sunny day. The energy thus produced could easily power four laptops for nine hours continuously.

Each Solarbrella 13’ x 13’ has lightweight Power Plastic thin film or Organic Photovoltaic Panels (OPV) on its exterior. These OPV panels are fully recyclable and they come covered in membrane sleeves for simple upgrades. The UV protected shade of Solarbrella offers cool temperature while the contraption powers mobile gadgets. The Chan Soon Shiong Family Foundation offered financial aid to the school to purchase these solar shades.
