Sunplant- a lovely energy saving installation designed by Toshiyuki Kita had raked in thousands of applauds for its innovative installation and eco-factor when it was on display in Milan, earlier this year. Hitting the headlines yet again, his environment-friendly design is set to spatter its light across Japan as the same 12-feet-high photovoltaic plant will be on display at the ‘Lighting Objet 2008’ in Tokyo. Kita’s collaboration with Sanyo has given a new meaning to his project, Sunplant. The sustainable system will exploit eight leaves, using Sanyo-branded HIT solar cell technology, to harness the solar energy that will recharge no less than 48 Sanyo eneloop batteries. The energy saving installation will be good enough to power two LCD screens and a bunch of LED lights fixed on it.
