Global warming, rising population is straining soils

land degrading

Burgeoning population is a roadblock not only to development, but also a burden on natural resources, heralding a pace of slow growth and fast exploitation of resources. Both, global warming and rising population are a drag that needs fixing, if man desires to survive.

As feeding mouths increase, the burden on soil to produce more increases, thereby adding to the predicament of the earth. This stirs a series of land exploitation processes to produce more food and settle the increasing number of people, resulting in a mooched, desiccated, dried soil on earth crying for help. Moreover, as global warming slowly sets in, more land turning gray and dead will be everywhere seen, in turn decreasing the land efficiency to produce more, which if pumped with fertilizers and pesticides will drag it towards its demise. Also, with it the number of hungry hands will surge as land would fail to bear its fruits, giving rise to exploitation of virgin lands, which would also face the same fate once their polish is gone.

land degradation and global warming

Earth’s is a sad story of emergence of man and desiccation of land. It is facing a silent crisis on one hand and a shrieking one on the other. Because earth cannot speak its predicament to man, who has eyes to see, but to show its dehydration by ceasing to bear more production is in itself a silent crisis waiting to burst. Already most of the nations like U.S., Australia are facing horrendous droughts where land is slowly fading away and with global warming already in, the pace of such a degradation of land has quickened.

Climate change is not a puzzle that man is so reluctant to find the key to solve it. Its solution also lies with us. Responsible and meaningful march on land is the key to solving the crisis. We have to understand that earth bears fruits only unto the time man doesn’t cross his limits, once man passes by such confines, earth hits back by ceasing to produce more. The proof to which is increasingly becoming apparent these days. Let us take it as an eyeopener.
