Recycled Christmas trees to promote aquatic life

Now it’s time to recycle Christmas trees so that they become a medium of sustenance for other forms of life. How about turning them into fish habitat? Well, to bring about the same, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Lakeview Marina & Marker 2 Grille on Boone Lake is asking Kingsport residents to bring their cut trees for recycling to Warriors Path State Park from Dec. 26 until Jan. 16.

Having recycled more than 5,000 Christmas trees last year, the Keep Kingsport Beautiful (partner in the program) hopes to move beyond this mark this year. TWRA will place these trees in six reservoirs in East Tennessee. Not only will this prevent trees from going to landfills, but will also help to promote aquatic life.
