Since it won’t be possible for all to do it alone, Fergus Walker offers his invention ‘People Powered Flour Mill’ that involves community participation. The grain-grinding mill is a bicycle-driven machine that can find utilization in other purposes as well. The designer plans to carry it to Fife to demonstrate how it actually works.

It was built as a graduate project for a community bakery in Scotland. The mill might help people get access to freshly milled flour ensuring none of the nutrients dissipates away. Once you have exercised a lot, you can plug it into any power source for continuous milling. The project has enticed sponsors’ attention as O2 It’s Your Community shells out a £1000 whereas the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative offers a bicycle for it.
