Parenting mistakes a parent must avoid

The sleeping pattern of a newborn is very delicate and a slightest change can actually destroy it. As a newborn baby grows old the sleeping pattern changes, so it is very good for the parents to keep an eye on the sleeping habits and signs. Sometimes parents find it very difficult to make their babies asleep and the babies do not have any pattern. It mainly happens because the parents do some very common mistakes. If you are having the same problems then here are a few tips to avoid them. Have a look!

Skipping the bedtime routine:  Bedtime routines are important! Even though your infant is small, but it can still understand that after a lullaby s/he has to sleep or after bath, he needs to sleep. It is the perfect time for bonding with your baby and a wonderful experience for both of you. The bedtime tells you all about how much time and effort your baby needs before falling asleep.

Ignoring baby’s sleep cues: Babies show different signs when they are getting tired and feeling sleepy. The signs include eye rubbing, yawning, whining, fussing, and lost interest with slow activity. If you ignore the sign you just missed the opportunity and now it can make the baby stressed out and irritated.

Creating sleep crutches: If you always carry your child around in your arms and they sleep in your lap, then you are actually creating sleep crutches for your child. It is best that after singing lullabies or after soothing the baby, you must put him/her in his/her on his bed. This allows the child to understand the bed is for sleeping and helps developing a routine. Otherwise, you would have to deal with the frustration of carrying your child in your arms at 3 am every night before it sleeps.

Switching from crib to big-kid bed too soon: Smaller children must not be given big beds to sleep, as it may hinder with their sleep process! Many parents opt for cribs. But one should remember that the crib should be replaced with a kid bed only after 2 years as many times small toddlers and newborns find it very difficult to sleep in a new place. So whenever you change their beds or the room keep in mind that there should be an interval of at-least 2 years before they get their permanent place.

Putting him to sleep wherever you are: A baby needs a fixed place for sleeping because when you take the baby outside it takes naps on the high chairs, stroller, and car seats which certainly does not indicate that the baby is in a deep and proper sleep. So, to develop an ideal habit make sure you have a fixed place for the child to sleep.

Not sticking with a sleep schedule: The kid needs to have a consistent sleeping schedule, which in turn helps the baby to set an internal clock. This sleep schedule makes the baby to fall asleep at the same time daily. So stick to a particular timetable.

Letting them stay up late, hoping they’ll sleep: If you are thinking of letting them stay late at night and they will sleep for a long time in the morning. This trick works with adults but babies are set with an internal biological clock making them awake at the same time.

Giving up too soon: If your baby has developed some really bad sleeping habits in the past few months then it might take some time to adjust so, it’s better not to give up so fast as the parents need to take proper care of the child by dedicating sometime over the matter.
