One-Sqm-House: Smallest house in the world is a DIYer’s delight

If you happen to be living in an urban apartment setting, you know very well the value of space. Every now and then, we come across smart and small living solutions proposed by designers and architects from around the world. You might have seen the smallest of houses to date, but the One-Sqm-House by architect Van Bo Le-Mentzel takes away the crown of being the world’s smallest house at just one meter square (10.7 square feet). Le-Mentzel, famous for his DIY furniture collection called Hartz IV-Möbel, has added an office and a bedroom to this tiny house. You can use the One-Sqm-House as a store, a mobile kiosk or as your personal space for relaxation.

The best part about the One-Sqm-House is that you can build one on your own too. All you need to do is to visit their lab with your cordless screwdrivers. The world’s smallest house has wheels attached to it, so you can take it anywhere you like to. When in upright position, you can use it as an office or a place to sit. When you feel sleepy, simply lie it down on one of its side and add a mattress.

Le-Mentzel is conducting the One-SQM-House Workshop in Berlin on July 8 and the interested ones can know the whole process of making this tiny house for €250. The house is part of the BMW Guggenheim Lab.
