MOSS prefab office makes working from home easy without risking productivity

Working from home, without sacrificing on productivity, can be a serious challenge. Keeping in mind the increasing costs and the hassle of commuting to office every day, American designer Victor Vetterlein has conceptualized MOSS (Micro Office Systems Space). The MOSS is a prefabricated, self-contained auxiliary office unit that allows employees to work from home and yet be productive and safe from at-home distractions. The four-meter-long prefabricated unit can be bought or leased by the employers and transported on a flatbed truck to be placed in the employees’ home garden. The self-sufficient MOSS home office is powered by clean, renewable energy.

While the energy-efficient underfloor heating and a wood stove keeps the interior warm, the solar panels on the roof generate electricity for the office gadgetry. There is also the option for attaching a wind turbine to the roof. The octagonal aluminum exterior helps protect the MOSS from rain, snow and high winds. While the basic unit doesn’t have running water or a toilet to cut down on the costs, the space can be extended to less than a meter to fit in a portable toilet, a small kitchen and a waste water tank.

To ensure high productivity while working at home, the prefab MOSS features a direct visual, audio and data link to the main office and lets employees hold small business meetings.
