The ISHIN-I (Innovations in Sustainability backed by Historically proven, INtegrated technologies) next-generation concept ship is far more environmentally friendly than the present-day oceanic vessels. The concept liner, owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), is actually a car carrier that ensures cleaner transportation of automobiles. It touts large-capacity solar-power panels on all areas of the upper deck, rechargeable batteries and an electric propulsion system to achieve a zero-emission target.
Carrying 6,400 cars on the move, the concept ship reduces carbon emissions by 41%. Similarly, on harbors, it doesn’t guzzle unnecessary emissions during loading and unloading. Other features include contra-rotating propeller drive system, Advanced Propeller Boss Cap Fins (PBCF), advanced wind resistance reducing design and optimum voyage support system.
