LaSalle will very soon see a new eco-center that will help in getting rid of unwanted and unsafe materials. The center, which by the way is the seventh for Montreal agglomeration, will require $7,725,000 to complete. Like conventional eco-centers, this one will also serve as a drop off for construction, demolition and renovation waste materials. It will also allow residents to part with undesirable matter and dangerous household waste products.
What makes the eco-center stand out is the additional industrial recycling facility that it has, making it the first center to benefit from it. This project will include an elevated ramp, which will provide access to 12 containers where various types of waste matter can be kept for future recycling or development. There is room for a place where dangerous household waste and halocarbons can be kept. A re-use storage facility will be also included.
This project will prove to be a boon for the locals and the environment by recycling and reducing the quantities destined for dump sites. It will also benefit the companies in the surrounding area as they could seek advice on the best means to dispose of their waste matter in an ecological and safe manner.
