Is Hybrid Public Bike Concept rooted in Car-free Zone?

It usually happens that a sweeping concept guides the thought-process of others around you. Just a fortnight after I told you about the London Garden, another green innovator, Chiyu Chen comes up with his bike concept. While the former i.e. The Royal College of Arts’ graduates mulled over a car-free zone in and around London, Chen proposes a somewhat similar Hybrid Public Bike Concept. I really can’t rule out some probable similarities in both the projects. Where Chen is hopeful of powering buses with the power generated by bicycles, “whatever amount of energy you’ve generated you can store it in internal batteries of the bus” is what Car-free Zone holds.

Video after the break:

Chiyu Chen’s Concept is creditable, still…:

Chen’s public-rental bicycle concept has a simple dynamo in the wheel that keeps on amassing the pedal-power until you park the bike. After you’ve returned the bike and have parked it, the stored energy further powers the hybrid bus system. Anyhow, it allows the commuters to apply their muscle power to get it converted into mechanical energy.

Though the concept deserves a definite round of applause, the use of personal ID card to ride the buses free of charge still matches what went before i.e. Car-free Zone.
