Improving green-lifestyle with the help of Singing Garbage Truck!!

In an era where people around the world are looking for eco-friendly lifestyles, Taiwan has come up with the Singing Garbage truck. This concept is believed to bring about environment friendly habits along with making this activity seem fun and bring about a sense of community.

When you see a group of neighbors and friends building camaraderie with pink and blue garbage bags in their hands, you should know that they are waiting for the Singing Garbage Truck. As soon as its sound starts blaring from a distance, all the residents of Taipei city get together on the streets.

People of Taiwan have made the boring task of taking out trash, a fun process and eco-friendly. Some of these trucks also teach English and deliver official documents.

These singing trucks drive through Taiwan city five days in a week at fixed timings during the evening with a recycling truck trailing behind. At these times, residents are required to segregate the garbage into kitchen waste and various types of recyclable items. This is a very innovative system that has taken the green lifestyle to a different level.

While some residents think that this system is a burden, others take it as an opportunity to feel environmentally conscious. The parents of one particular family have made this trash taking-out a fun game, imbibing in their children a sense of eco-friendly culture. These children really enjoy doing this activity and waiting on the streets with other families, while children in other parts of the world complain about the same.

The streets become very lively during garbage collection time. Older ladies wander about the streets for bits and pieces of trash to recycle, while food vendors separate their kitchen trash when chatting up with shop owners.

Singing trucks don’t appear in cultural vacuum, but are a part of Taiwan’s bigger trend of associating daily activities with sending across important messages. For eg: At a restaurant where diners enjoy beautiful view, they are also assured that their wastes will be effectively recycled. Similarly, all efforts are made to make everyone feel more engaged with each other and their communities. Singing trucks have fostered a sense of community with their sounds in public.

At this point in time, where everyone is wondering about eco-friendly lifestyles, Taiwan has made recycling a must with its Singing garbage truck. But what we ponder about is the fact that does this really solves our environmental problems?
