Hayward woman joins ‘Cell Phones for Soldiers’ campaign for a noble cause

Lynn Hoeppner, a Washburn County clerk is doing her bit to benefit those working in tense situations to give us a peaceful life. She has associated herself with an online campaign called “Cell Phones for Soldiers” that works towards providing prepaid phone cards to U-S troops overseas. The program recycles old phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas.

To accomplish its goal what Cell Phones for Soldiers does is it collect 50,000 cell phones each month through a network of more than 3,000 collection sites across the country and sends them to ReCellular, which donates five-dollars worth of calling cards for each phone turned in. Howppner believes this is a brilliant way of supporting a noble cause without having to spend extra money.
