Green Art: World is a canvas for Ulrike Arnold

Green Art

Trotting over the globe since 1980, still in quest of the earthly derivations is what sums up this eco-artist’s character. German artist Ulrike Arnold’s canvas always transcends the limits of cities and continents. Already having been to the remotest places of the world, she believes in leaving the marks of her ingenuity behind for others to follow them.

What fascinates me is how the earth, in the various forms of its landscape and stones, assumes different material and color qualities, how the variegated layers tell stories about the creation of the earth, about the conditions under which people live in different parts of the earth, as well as the interplay between climatic zones and vegetation.

Her eco-fanaticism has led her to create true masterpieces out of rocks, soil and dust. She mixes these natural elements with wax or oils. The compassion for nature never ends when she coats rocks with her creativity. Her Earth Paintings truly depict her love for nature.

Then follows the Rock Art. Ulrike gathered colors from surroundings and used them on rocks in India and USA.

Meteorite Paintings use stones and irons from planets, asteroids and comets. She got the unusual fabric for her craft from the Southwest Meteorite Laboratory. It gives expression to her latent penchant to color the cosmos even through her works.
