The look

Having your living room re-fashioned as a cottage will give your home a more homely ambiance. It might just be like a coutry-side getaway house you always wished for. Here are some tips to follow.

1. Window treatments
Don’t use overweight curtains that look heavy and make your feel like sitting in gravity car. In the cottage style the window frames are as beautiful as the window curtains themselves. The rules of maximum exposure apply here. By doing away with heavy curtains, and using cotton curtains that are light and in light shades, the whole place will serenade a song of harmony.

Even if you value your privacy more, choose curtains that can make the sun see-through them and which also have small pores for ventilation.

2. Walls and paint
Light is the way to go. Your walls should be colored with hues that are light in shade and tone. We suggest that you keep the walls white and plain. If you have brooding colors that are on the darker side, get a repainting done. Brood is out. Mood is in!

Apply some coats of primer so that your light shade does not look like a fade! Rather, it should look bright, and prosperous.

3. Flooring
Cottage styled houses have floors that are snow-white in color. You must be wondering why its done that way. It could probably to give you a feeling of walking in the clouds or something else. But not to worry. If you still do not want to paint your expensive hardwood, you can leave it alone. Try to add a lot of jute mats around. They give your floor a earthen appearance. But definitely, don’t add sand!

4. Accents and accessories:
Let your living room be full of color co-ordinations and contrasts. Let every component belong to one another. Be it your sofas, drawers, tables and what not.
