Forrest Hill School kids display amazing skill in building eco-hut for school

Under the guidance of their teacher Lisa Leggett, the Forrest Hill School’s young eco-enthusiasts have started building an eco-hut to shelter their school garden. Initially the project was meant for an eco-schools competition, but unfortunately, it got too late to enter. Therefore, the focus of the project was shifted from the competition to develop green skills in kids.

The students tested their design with newspaper and ice block sticks taking help from Lisa. The eco-construction makes use of eco-friendly materials, such as donated pallets, nails and recycled corrugated plastic. Apart from the green material used in the construction, the design incorporated the use of a slanted roof for easy rainwater collection. The rainwater collected from the roof will be used to nourish the plants.
