Family travel: Wizarding world of Harry Potter

The destination

Family time is needed more than ever in these days than ever before. Kids today perhaps need more care and attention from their parents as their world is more complex and competitive than it should be. A family trip would be ideal for parents to bond with their kids and develop a good relationship. This article will tell you all about a wonderful family destination: The ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’, Orlando. This theme park is an exciting part of ‘The Islands of Adventure’, of the famous Universal studios, Orlando. Kids as well as adults who grew up with Harry Potter will simply have the time of their lives indeed in this park.

Why visit?

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been the most exciting attraction in the Islands of Adventure. Potter fans all over the world had been clamoring for the opening of the park in June and the rush into it has never decreased since then. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter does justice to both the books and the movies and is indeed the place to be if your kids grew up with Harry Potter. Best recommended for kids above 5 years as they would appreciate the attractions in the park better. Many aspects of the Wizarding World are brought to life in the park and fans are just overwhelmed seeing them! The park is also open all 365 days of the years and that makes it a really convenient destination.

What to see?

Now lets get to the most exciting part: The attraction in the park. Every inch of the park has something to offer but read on for a brief summary of the main highlights!

1. The first place you’d be at when you enter the park is the Wizarding village of Hogsmeade. You can buffer yourself up with a drink of Butterbeer / pumpkin juice.

2. Attractions in Hogsmeade are many. You can pamper your sweet tooth with endless sweet treats from ‘Honey Dukes’ : The ultimate Wizarding sweet shop. Do try out the chocolate frogs and do collect the different house cards! Other treats available are chocolate fudges, colorful lollipops and Every flavor beans! Careful now with the beans. You might pop a weird flavor like earwax or salmon into your mouth once in a while! But the different tastes are fun!

If your stomach rumbles, The ‘Three Broomsticks’ will be just heaven. You can get yourself another mug of butter beer or treat yourself to mouth watering English delicacies like Shepherd pie or fish n chips. The decor of the restaurant is truly ‘wizardish’ and the wait staff is really interesting and entertaining! They’d ask you to which house you belong in Hogwarts or tell you how o cast a spell! Throughout the park there are tons of wizarding shops you should really check out. There is Zonko’s Joke shop, Dervish and bangs, Flinsh’s Emporium and even Owl post! You can get goodies directly. Note that the goods are available for online purchase also. So you can save time by shopping online and in the meanwhile enjoy the rest of the park!)

3. The Flight of the Hipogriff is a roller coaster ride for the younger wizards. It is quite slow and safe and the tots can enjoy a view of the whole of hogsmeade as well as a view of Hagrid’s hut. Buckbeck the Hipogriff would accompany the riders.

4. The older wizards can ride the “dragon challenge” which will simply have you soaring higher as ever. Don’t be surprised if you see a few ‘Goblet of Fire’ scenes.

5. Diagon Alley, another wizarding Village is worth a visit and so is Ollivander’s wand shop in it. But as a parent, you can take a firm decision about the wands which are quite pricey( They don’t really do much for a costly magic wand).

6. The hogwarts castle will be the biggest and most magnificent magic castle you’ll ever set your eyes on earth. The castle is well replicated masterfully by Orlando studios and is indeed a marvel. Ever part of the castle is as you read in the books and you can find talking portraits, dumbledore’s office etc. The castle is vast and some parts can be dark. Free advice : don’t wander about on your own. you could get lost.

7. The magnificent “The Wizarding World of Harry potter ” ride is the best ‘potter’ attraction of the park. This indoor ride comes last and is ‘just never to be missed’.It is indeed worth all the wait in entry lines. You will be taken along a journey of Harry Potter’s life and you and your kids will simply be amazed and thrilled! The ride will have you twisting, falling and turning, soaring and plunging, almost eaten up by ferocious dragons and face to face with scary dementors.

Don’t miss

Out of the numerous attractions in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the most fabulous three are The flight of the Hogwarts castle, Hippogriff, Dragon challenge and the forbidden journey of Harry Potter. Never miss those rides. Another “miss at no cost” entity at the park is Harry’s favorite drink, butter beer (No worries for your kid as the drink is non- alcoholic based !). It is quite mouth watering and you can get it from an outdoor vendor outside hogsmeade.
