Family ski resorts

Family Ski Resorts are now in their hay days. Every year thousands gather at the Ski resorts at different locations to enjoy vacations. They wait for a comprehensive know how for these resorts. With many different packages for different programmes in the offing, these resorts truly lure the tourists. If you are planning to spend vacation in a Family Ski Resort, you are in the right place. Here is a quickie for a couple of Ski Resorts.

1. Deer valley

Dear Valley is an exquisite place to be in. It offers luxurious, exclusive and a well serviced resort. It has almost every comfort that you can ask for. But it is highly expensive. A near proximity of Park city allows making a budget holidaying with simultaneous skiing and staying. It situated at a height of 9600 feet with a surface area of 2000 acres, enough for the surfers. For the non-skiers there is plenty of amusement too. It offers some great kids programmes to its visitors. Deer Valley, however, does not allow snow boarders. It ranks among the top twenty Ski Resorts by most travel websites.

2. Steamboat springs

Four hour drive from Denver and on the lap of Colorado basin, this Ski resort offers great pleasure. Steamboat Springs has distinct signatures in its scenic beauty and look. It has many terrains for the skiers of different levels. The place is just a sheer excitement for the starter, intermediate, and the experienced players. Hotels and condos are available with ski-in and ski-out accommodation. The terrain, highest elevation and vertical drop are 2,965 acres; 10,500 feet and 3,700 feet, respectively. There are amazing kids programmers including combo skiing for the little kids, day care and ski schools with a price range of 100$/ day to 500$/ week. Flights are available from Chicago, JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, Denver, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Salt Lake City.

3. Aspen

Of all the ski resorts, Aspen is closest to the Airport. You can fly directly from Denver, Chicago, LA, and Salt Lake City. Aspen is slightly more expensive compared to its nearest ‘rival’ Snowmass (15 min from Aspen). You can stay at Snowmass and travel to Aspen for skiing. With a good transport between these two, it could be well managed. Excellent lodging facilities at Snowmass. The surface area, highest elevation, and vertical drop are 4,800 acres, 12,500 feet and 4,400 feet, respectively. Many amusements are there for non-skiiers too like shopping, eating out. Both Aspen and Snowmass have great restaurants, parks, cafeteria, and book stores.

4. Taos

From Albuquerque, it is 2 hours and 15 minutes away. Taos is odd-man-out in the World of skiers. It is in New Mexico and many of us can’t still think of South westerners sans ranches and cowboys. That’s why it has a different feel and you must visit this place if you want to explore the country. The Great Lake Airlines from Santa Fe provides service for Taos. Major players are about to begin their ventures soon. Lodging here is not as exorbitant as the others widely visited places. The surface area, highest elevation, and vertical drop are 1,300 acres, 11,800 feet and 2,610 feet, respectively.

5. Big Sky

Big sky has a big advantage over other ski resorts. It has a vast mountainous landscape in the back ground. With fewer crowds, the place has a desolate feel and exclusiveness for its visitors. Its surface area, highest elevation, vertical drop are 3,800 acres, 11,200 feet and 4,350 feet, respectively. Bozeman Airport is the nearest (a 45 minutes’ drive) one. This is where you might need to rent a car as the meadows are distant from the lodges and walking could be a real time killer. Ski schools and day care facilities are available.

6. Winter Park

It is very near to Denver and the Denver International Airport; 70 miles and 90 miles, respectively. Limited number of condos on the mountain, but a handful of ski-in and ski-out accommodations is available. It is reasonably priced compared to the I-70 corridor. Arapahoe National Forest is of great interest particularly for the nonskiers. The surface area, highest elevation, vertical drop are 3,000 acres, 12,000 feet, and 2,600 feet, respectively.
