We may grow old but the undaunted spirit that lies within never fails to express when it is most needed. It keeps on asking the young to take lead and beleaguer those who are unwilling to fight for a cause. John Prescott, 71, did the same via his climate change schools road show urging all to understand how grave a problem climate change is.
Staunch climate change activist demands action:
Mr. Prescott, the former Deputy Prime Minister of the UK, had been a key figure during the Kyoto Protocol negotiations on climate change. He led the UK delegation at the discussions. Later, he worked with the Foreign Secretary and the Secretary of State for the Environment to develop the UK’s post-Kyoto schema. His 40 years as an MP were full of concern for environment and climate change. Even now, the spark is still there as was exhibited at the road show.

He calls upon everyone to fight for the right to “live in a healthy and viable environment”. It’s preserved in the European Convention on Human Rights and this is what the Prescott school tour wishes to project at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. Advocating for the maximum utilization of eco-friendly public modes of transportation, he asked children to say no to personal means of transport.
To ensure that pupils imbibe the gist of his message fully, they were shown the environmental movie ‘Age of Stupid’.
