The last few years have seen many individuals go the green way by adopting greener lifestyles. Reducing one’s carbon footprint has never been more important, considering the amount of pollution we face on a daily basis. As such, a lot of companies have been coming forward with interesting green gadgets that promise to make a difference to the world we live in. Here are some of those green gadgets that are guaranteed to make waves in 2016.

Voltaic Systems 4.0W Amp USB Portable Charger

This powerful phone and electronics charger is solar powered and is the perfect accessory whenever you are off the grid and don’t have access to charging stations. Built for rough and tough conditions, it features a flip panel that opens when in use to capture the sun’s energy.

The energy is stored inside the device and is used to power any form of portable electronic device. In addition to being your perfect companion for all those off-road adventures, this gadget is sure to reduce your carbon footprint while you are on the go.

GoSun Stove

CES 2016 saw the unveiling of the GoSun Stove, a solar powered barbeque like stove that uses nothing but solar power to cook your favorite dishes. The stove comes with insulated tubes like the ones you see in a standard thermos. These insulated tubes help store the sun’s energy and heat food up to 200 degrees and more.

All this is done internally, ensuring that the top of the stove remains cool. Under perfectly sunny conditions, the GoSun Stove can cook food for at least eight people in just under an hour. Not to worry if it is cloudy outside though. The stove can still use the sun’s energy to cook your food although the cooking time will increase a bit more depending on how cloudy it is.

Circo Dishwasher

Dishwashers are notorious for using tons of water and electricity for operation. Not the Circo dishwasher though. This zero electricity dishwasher also uses very less water per wash to get your dishes clean, just about 0.7 gallons of water for every load (a typical dishwasher uses about 2.2 gallons of water per load).

Would you believe if we were to tell you that it is even more efficient than hand washing the dishes? The only downside to Circo is that it has a limitation on the number of dishes you can wash in one cycle. However, that said, it can still cut down the energy and water consumed by a regular dishwasher by nearly half in a month’s time.

Parrot Pot

A lot of us tend to waste a lot of water while irrigating the plants in our lawn or garden. The same goes for indoor plants as well. CES 2016 saw an interesting solution for this in the form of the Parrot Pot, a flower pot that can do so many other jobs apart from just being a home for your plants.

The Parrot Pot acts as a Bluetooth soil monitor which is able to measure the soil moisture, the light levels as well as the ambient temperature for every 15 minutes. It also comes with a 2.2 liter water tank that will be able to irrigate automatically without any intervention on your part.

And the best part? It has a database of information of over 8000 plants which it can use to irrigate the plants accordingly. What more could you want from a plant pot, especially if you do not have a green thumb?

UberPOOL Carpool

The greatest difficulty about carpooling is actually finding out who is going in your direction when you want to. Taxi firm Uber has come up with a smart solution for that with its new UberPOOL carpooling feature.

This feature helps you hunt around for other riders heading in the same direction as you are on an Uber taxi. It helps you identify boarding points where you can get on and share the ride. In addition to reducing your carbon footprint, you end up paying only a portion of the fare depending on how many people you are sharing the ride with. Definitely a greener way to commute for sure!

A lot of gadgets have been introduced in the market of late with the intention of helping individuals reduce their carbon footprints. These gadgets hold great promise to make the earth a greener place to live in for future generations for sure.
