Disappearing destinations: Should you visit or miss them forever?

greatbarrierreef1

If exotic locations such as Alaska and Antarctica are on your future-planned destinations, it’s time to plan your vacation now, as you may never get to see them in a few years from now. Yes, global warming is taking its toll on these locations and they may disappear into oblivion once ands for all. The travel operators are cashing in on this ‘doomsday tourism’ and are urging travelers to visit these endangered destinations of the world.

Leading the list are, the melting glaciers of Alaska, the shrinking ice shelves of Antarctica, sinking Maldives, Venice, and The Great Barrier Reef. In fact, these destinations top the list of every green traveler who prefers seeing these destinations alive than watch them on the Discovery channel.

While the tourism boom is a good for the respective countries, most travelers don’t realize that they are indirectly contributing and hastening the predicted doomsday. They travel to the destinations by flight, a major contributor of green house gas emissions, stay in luxury hotels and contribute to the pollution.

So, should you visit them before they disappear or stay away to delay the doomsday?
