Deby Cowdin shows the world the importance of recycling with her artistic and exquisite creations. The artist, who has been working with glass for nearly 15 years now, gave birth to From the Blue Bag, a company that recycles glass to shape unique items. Her company that started with a flattened wine bottle tray has expanded to develop food-functional serving trays and dishes, taking the business to another level altogether.

From the Blue Bag obtains materials by appointing local bars and restaurants to join in its bottle-recycling program. Cowdin and her husband create stunning pieces by simply melting bottles and giving them different shapes and designs. Their flourishing business has moved from a farmers market to over 200 stores in 23 states now. The couple a wide range of items varying from cheese trays to gift sets to serving dishes to wine accessories. One of the most popular is their wedding bottle, which has a wedding invitation engraved on it.

Not only does the duo keep thousands of bottles away from landfills but also helps other Ohioans by buying local Ohio products to fulfill their business requirements and helping other aspiring artists. They recycle nearly 2,000 to 3,000 bottles a month. Cowdin has kept prices affordable, all the beautiful items at From the Blue Bag range from about $20 to $99.
