Home automation has become a very common thing in past few years. Owing to its great benefits, it has lured so many homeowners to make home automation systems an integral part of their homes.

However, they say a technology is always a mix of advantages and disadvantages, so home automation is no exception to it, as there are certain limitations to current home automation systems. Here are some of the limitations of home automation systems we wish to end soon.

Human Errors

Although companies promote home automation systems to be user-friendly and easy to install but still all systems have high risk of human errors. People who use home automation systems have to be careful while handling it, or else it might crash. Human errors lead to destruction of machines, as the system crashes.

Not every gadget is compatible with other gadgets

Interoperation is one of the biggest issues when it comes to having a variety of home automation systems at home. For instance, you bring Zigbeem, Nest, WeMo, and Z-Wave home automation systems home, hoping to make your home excel in terms of smartness.

However, once you install them all and then you realize that they do not work together. This makes it even more confusing and not at all convenient to manage them all individually. Interoperation seems to be a big issue that should soon vanish.

Technological limits

Home automation systems automate so many tasks, thus, making our lives simpler and convenient but still many tasks are there that present technology is unable to automate. For instance, assembly of products that demands manual dexterity and it seems that these tasks are best left to human dexterity only. However, if you consider convenience then we hope this limitation soon vanishes and comes a day when literally everything is automated.

Technology is pricey

Home automation systems are a bit pricey, which is justifiable also because they bring so much of convenience into our lives. Besides convenience, they make energy conservation an integral part of our lives.

All said and done, we all wish that the prices further comes down so that every single person is able to benefit from this stupendous technology. It has happened in past also that, the prices have come down as the technological advancement has taken place, and certainly, it will happen in future as well.

Home automation and cyber crime

Ever since home automation industry has seen uplift, side-by-side cyber crime has also seen the same. Using devices and gadgets at home, those are connected to internet serve as loopholes. The internet capable home appliances have served as opportunities for hackers who have managed to steal personal information of the inhabitants through them.

This has happened many times when burglars used the information regarding login and logout time fed in a smart door lock to break into someone’s home. These incidences do not prove that home automation systems are not worth it, rather all they prove is that you need to be careful enough and take precautions that keep data secure and far out of reach of the hackers.

Misuse is possible

Wall mounted touch pads or the ones attached to the keys that open and shut doors at your command is a risky thing. Suppose they get in the hands of burglars, they will be able to control your home and do whatever they want to do with it.

If not taken care of properly, your home automation system can become the biggest threat to your privacy and your well-being. This is owing to some limitations, which we hope will soon vanish.
