British waters taken over by massive sea slug

This is not a Loch Ness monster or an Anaconda. A massive sea slugs squirting toxic waste has taken over the British waters. Experts blame global warming for this. This extraordinary looking creature is popular by the name slug. The scientific name for the creature is Aplysia fasciata.

The slug doesn’t have an appealing look at all. It may initially look like a weird long sandwich or a big piece of cooked and juicy salmon. The little pores on the body are not that pretty either. If you are not used to the pictures of weird marine creatures, the slugs can gross you out.

Often times with marine life and animals, appearance can be pretty deceiving. Let me remind you that this slug is pretty harmless to the human beings. The sea slug consumes lettuce only and is a vegetarian. It swims with wing like body parts. Due to the presence of so-called wings, the creature appears like an underwater bat. It can grow up to 18 inches long or 40 centimeters and weigh about a couple of kgs. I think that’s pretty big.

A fisherman was good enough to take one of these sea monsters to the National Marine Aquarium (NMA) in Plymouth, Devon. So, next time you scuba dive off the British coast, watch out for one of these sea monsters. Even though they are harmless, the poison that the massive slug squirts can blind a predator. I guess, that’s the only defense mechanism it has got to protect itself.
