Hugo’ nominated for 11 Oscar Awards

A lesser celebrated 3D adventurous movie, Hugo surprised everyone this morning after making its way into Academy Awards. Based upon the novel ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’, this Martin Scorsese flick has been reportedly nominated for 11 Awards in different categories.

Hugo: A brief insight

The movie narrates the story of a 12 year old boy, Hugo Carbet, who lost his mother at an early age and lives with his father, an expert clockmaker in Paris. His father often takes him for George Melies’s movies. Later, his uncle takes him away after the death of his father due to fire in the museum. Hugo dwells between the walls of the station with the sole dream of turning his father’s most ambitious project, ‘Automation’ a success story.

Hugo steals mechanical part to complete the ‘Automation’ that is still without one vital part, a heart shaped key. Hugo does his best to decode the message of his father stored in the automation. He is helped by Isabelle, the goddaughter of the shop owner, to activate the automation. Upon activating, it produces a drawing of a film scene, Hugo’s father used to narrate. The cinema was created by Georges Meiles, who turns out to be Isabelle’s Godfather, the brain behind Automation. The movie closes with children relating Georges to his past and new age cinema geeks who came to admire his work.
