Boy or a girl: Exciting ways to predict baby’s gender

Accessing the gender of the baby growing inside the mother’s womb by mere assumption is not at all an easy task. There are thousands of myths and old wives tales surrounding the determination of the gender of the baby, but nothing seems to be full proof. In spite of the advancement of science there is hardly any portable method to understand the sex of the fetus and the decision is to be left entirely at the discretion of the nature. But nothing can stop the would be parents from playing the game of guessing the gender of their baby. Therefore, if you are passing through the same phase, here are some of the ways to understand if it is a boy or a girl:

1. The nature of your craving

Although there are numerous contradictions behind this theory, but this remains as a popular myth. In order to judge the sex of the fetus, it is important to closely observe the inclination of the craving of the would be mother for a certain period of time. If the woman who is expecting a baby shows an increased liking for salty food, chips, burgers, etc. then it is said that she will give birth to a baby boy. Similarly, during pregnancy, if her craving for sweets does not seem to get satisfied at all and she longs for more then she will be the mother of a little girl.

2. Your baby bump tells it all

It is often said that the formation of the baby bump is indicative of the gender of the baby growing inside it. This is one of the most primitive and popular methods of gender determination. It is said that if the baby bump is low in height and do not protrude from the sides and rather grow from the front, then you can expect a baby boy. But if your baby bump is visible from your back and you have a high belly extended at the sides, then there is a baby girl awaiting to get delivered. But scientists deny on this concept by saying that the different formations of the baby bump is not due to the gender of the baby but the position it takes within the womb and the aftermath of muscle tone.

3. The heart beat determination

This method of the gender identification of the baby inside the womb is another belief you might have heard in folklore or from your midwife. It is advised to put an ear on the baby bump and listen attentively to the rate of heart beat of the baby inside it. If it is is somewhere around 140 beats per minute or something lower than that, then you will be the proud mother of a baby boy. But if the rate of heart beat is more than 140 beats per minute, then be ready to welcome a little princess. But this method too has been dismissed scientifically, remarking that difference of heartbeats can only be felt when the baby is born and not before it.

4. Observing pregnancy sickness

A typical sort of sickness is common in women when they are expecting. This sickness is characterized by nausea, vomiting, general sickness, etc. which persist during the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. It is believed that the timing of sickness is indicative of the gender of baby growing inside the womb. It is said that boys make you sick in the morning while the girls make you sick in the evening. Thus, if the intensity of your morning sickness is more than evening then it is a baby boy inside you and if the case is just the opposite, then you are expecting a baby girl. This method is also not full proof as researches carried on to study the link between pregnancy sickness and gender of the baby has no substantial base so far.

5. How do you look

There is another popular theory on the determination of the would-be-born baby’s gender identification, which suggests that the look of the mother during the phase of pregnancy is a way of determination of the same. If you are expecting and look beautiful, with shiny hair and glossy pink cheeks, then there is a baby boy growing inside you. Similarly if you look tired, exhausted, with dull and worn down hair and outbreak of pimples and rashes on your face, then it is a baby girl inside you. This is another nonsense method, as many doctors regard it, as the obvious hormonal changes during this period often show up in the form of skin eruptions in many women.

6. Ring method

This method is practiced since ages to determine sex of the fetus, although there is no scientific base in it. A ring tied to a string is hung just above the belly button of a pregnant woman. If the ring oscillates sidewise, then a baby boy is supposed to be delivered. But if the ring takes a circular motion, a baby girl is about to take birth.

7. The Chinese calender

This is another popular method of determination of the gender of the baby inside the womb. The day when a boy or a girl will be born is already predestined according to the Chinese calender. Hence, the day which corresponds with the delivery date of the expecting mother is analyzed and the sex of the fetus is predicted.

8. Calorific inclination

This method is said to have a deep set connection of the nature of diet of a woman. If the woman, during her period of pregnancy, shows an inclination towards more of calorific diet, then it is said that a baby boy is on the way. But doctors say that consumption of calorific diet is only related to the period when couples try for their baby. Calorie rich diet encourages and activates the Y chromosome in sperm cell, responsible for the birth of a boy. But this does not have a connection to the baby which is already inside the womb.
