Asia’s biggest solar plant to produce one megawatt of clean energy

Asia’s biggest solar plant that will be operational from tomorrow will be another green initiative to save the planet. Taiwan, the beautiful island that has been importing nearly all its energy is now looking forward to produce power itself by bringing renewable resources into play. The new facility in south Taiwan’s Kaohsiung County has as many as 141 massive solar panels that are capable of producing one megawatt of energy.

The two-hectare plant located at a place that gets sunshine all round the year, will help Taiwan in reducing carbon emissions by up to 660-700 tons annually. The one megawatt produced by the plant will be enough to power 1,000 homes. The island hopes that this new facility will help to boost its solar energy industry to a great extent. Presently, Taiwan generates just 2,278 megawatts of green energy, but with the passing of a major renewable energy bill, the island hopes to produce nearly 6,500 to 10,000 megawatts of renewable energy over the next two decades.
