Allegories related to pregnancy

With our growth as human beings, we have come across many do’s and do not’s passing from forefathers to fathers. Each generation takes those tales as hard lines of the subject but the fact is that these rules are actually twisted tales of the actual concern. Under the wide spectrum of allegories comes the major subject of pregnancy where most of the myths are still ruling. Pregnancy is not only complicated as a topic but an epitome of emotions. That is why, we as would be father or mother never take the risk of breaking the jinx of pregnancy allegories. The allegories associated with pregnancy need to be dealt properly because these create situations that cannot be resolved.

1. Learning begins even before the baby is born

The child starts to learn before he is born is misconception that dates back to the history. One of the most popular belief states that the child begins to learn in the mother’s womb. They say whatever you learn in the days of pregnancy, not necessarily hard core education, is passed to the child. Going by the rule, then would be mothers are expected to read a lot to make their baby genius. But this allegory is completely denied by scientific experiments and doctors. According to doctors, the child adopts from his or her parent’s genes only. The fact lies in the deeper understanding that learning during pregnancy and especially spiritual learning will keep you calm and composed.

2. Walking induces labor

Second on the list is that expectant mothers must not walk a lot during pregnancy because that can induce labor pain. But this is not true according to the doctors. In fact they suggest a good walk during the days because your bodily movement is responsible for your body system to work properly and indirectly for the baby. Walk during pregnancy will keep the would be mother relaxed and is essential in maintaining the growth of the fetus.

3. Petting a cat is hazardous at the time of pregnancy

This is one of those misconceptions which has been misinterpreted and says that you must not pet a cat during pregnancy. The reason behind this misconception lies in the fact that the pets have certain micro organisms on and in their body which can directly harm the baby in the womb. The other point is that you should seriously take precaution of not playing around the cat’s litter box. In fact the deeper suggestion is that staying away from pets or animals will be beneficial.

4. Baby’s position in womb tells about the gender

The belief that you can judge if its a boy or a girl by its position in the womb can be commonly heard. But according to medical science, there is no particular symptom that can tell you about the sex of the child except for the tests which are illegal in certain countries. To add to it this, the misconception has another interesting part that the stretching of the skin below the navel line can be a clue to determine the sex of the child.

5. Lying on left is most secure posture for the baby

This allegory says that while choosing which side to lie on, the would be mother should prefer left. She should lie on the left side for most of the time so that the child’s position in the womb is not disturbed. But the fact is, it’s just like working on a part of the body extra and keeping the other side unused. There is not even a single medical journal that states that even back sleeping is a problem for an expecting mother. In fact to add to it, you may have muscular pains on the other side for not using it for a period of nine months. This is a just a guess work and has no scientific basis for it.
