Advanced thermogenerators to convert car exhaust into electricity

Using highly advanced thermogenerators, Russian auto engineers from the Training Nanotechnology Engineering Center at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, hope to produce electricity from a car’s carbon emissions under a project financed by the Federal Agency for Science of Russia. The thermal converter will utilize the 30-degree temperature difference between the car heater, exhaust pipe and the cooling radiator to set electrons into motion. Electricity, thus produced, may amount to 750 watts that will be stored in a storage battery for further use by other on-board electronics.

The Russian nanotechnologies corporation, RusNano, has already proposed designing a power-generating exhaust tip for automobiles that will lower carbon dioxide concentration and reduce fuel consumption. The scientists look forward to increasing the efficiency of exhaust pipes nozzles within two years. If they succeed in doing it, there will be no need to use generators in cars.
