Valeant Pharmaceuticals drug Zelapar has got approval in the US for treating Parkinson’s disease, a neurological disorder. Patients who respond poorly to levodopa or carbidopa will use the once-daily tablet of Zelapar. It helps the patients when the other drugs do not.
Zelapar is a version of selegiline, a compound used in treating depression and Parkinson’s. Zelapar tablet dissolves quickly in the mouth and works more actively at a lower dose.
