Top 10 drugs include tobacco and alcohol!

Believe it or not, alcohol and tobacco still hold on their previous ranks among the top 10 worst drugs, claims a new study.

Before whittling down top 10 worst drugs, mainly three factors were kept in mind, which were: the physical harm to the user, the drug’s potential for addiction, and the impact on society of drug use.

Finally, heroin and cocaine were ranked most dangerous, followed by barbiturates and street methadone, while alcohol and tobacco managed to clasp fifth and ninth position respectively, among the list of top 10 worst drugs.

This ranking sounds irrefutable, as 18.7 million Americans indulge in alcohol abuse or boozing, followed by 71.5 million tobacco addicts. According to an estimate, 25 percent of men and 20 percent of women are cigarette smokers.

If we look at the rising level of tobacco addiction, keeping in view the global aspect then we could say that tobacco addiction is destroying not only those who smoke but also who are being made to smoke (passive smokers), as an estimate by WHO shows that around 700 million children, or almost half of the world’s children, breathe air polluted by tobacco smoke, particularly at home. In addition, an estimated 200 000 workers die each year due to exposure to smoke at work.

Another fact that comes out more clearly is: people who take tobacco and alcohol as harmless source of intoxication are doing a big mistake, indeed.
