Chicken

Food and Thanksgiving are closely associated as it is the festival when we share food with our loved ones and try our best to put up sumptuous spread on the dining table. Sadly, the kids often turn down the foods that we eat with pleasure. It is not easy to impress the small wonders of our lives but a little innovation can help you in turning stale and tame veggies and meat into attractive delicacies for them.

During Thanksgiving festivity, you probably want to cook something extraordinary for your family. It is one of the few times a year when you can break the rules and enjoy binge snacking at home. Read on to see some fabulous and healthy Thanksgiving ideas.

Make the ranch dip:

Do you boil vegetables for dinner too often for your kid’s liking? Thanksgiving is the time to give the boiling a break and making a nice dip for crunchy well-cut veggies. The best thing about the ranch dressing is that it stays fresh for around 3 days. Use non-fat buttermilk for making this dressing so that the calories are favorably low. You may also buy or make low-fat mayonnaise at home. You can dip tomatoes, carrots, and broccoli in this dressing and enjoy.

Mix things up:

Kids feel hungry in the evening and they are ready to grab a burger or pizza. Instead, you can give them a nice crunchy mix made with their favorite crunchy bites. Combine dry fruits, nuts and raisins honey loops and salty crunchy taste quite good together.

Turkey toast:

Cut bread in shapes to make a turkey on the plate. Mix pumpkin puree, peanut butter, sugar, and spices to make the spread for the bread. If your kid has an allergy from peanut butter then substitute it with soy butter or almond butter. After putting the spread on the bread pieces, decorate your turkey toasts with almonds, chocolate chunks, nuts, and raisins.

Apple chips:

Replace the potato chips with much healthier apple chips. Making them at home is not very difficult. First, you will have to make very thin slices of apples. Make a mixture of cinnamon powder, other spices, and sugar. Spread this mixture on top of the apple slices. You need to bake these chips inside an oven for around 2 hours at 250 degrees Celsius. Open the oven once halfway through the baking and turn the apple slices over for further baking.

Cheese crackers:

Cheese crackers made at home are delicious yet healthy enough for the kids. Mix good quality butter, flour, and cheese together and make a thick mixture. Make star and leaf shapes on it, and bake them. You should use play dough cutters of different shapes for bringing variety. You can also make goldfish crackers in the same way.

Peanut butter and jelly smoothie:

Do your kids like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Make the peanut butter and jelly smoothie instead and make it more nutritious with fresh fruits. Blend Greek yogurt, spinach, and strawberries and add a spoonful of peanut butter with it. This smoothie offers many vital nutrients to your kids along with proteins.

Turkey Nuggets:

Leftover turkey can be used in a variety of different ways for making tasty snacks. Leftover turkey sandwiches are a favorite of many and they are eaten for days after a grand bash at the Thanksgiving eve. You can also make nuggets by chopping the turkey pieces. The process will be similar to making chicken nuggets.
