Preventing Alcohol Syndrome with Alcoholic Injections

Researchers at American College of Surgeons reported that injections of alcohol can help alcohol dependents to minimize withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms include shakiness, hallucinations and confusion.

According to Dr. Ari Halldorsson of Texas Tech University of Health Sciences Center, the rate of patients undergoing non emergency surgery noted to be 16 percent leading to long hospital stays due to complications in surgery.

The use of alcohol tends to be highly controversial as its practice is limited to surgeons and surgical sub-specialists and no guidelines provided to deal with the syndrome.

A protocol developed based on blood alcohol levels of the patient and clinical assessment of withdrawal symptoms by using alcohol in a controlled and monitored way, preventing the syndrome safely and effectively.
