If you have been clutched by chronic cough then perhaps doctors may prescribe you opiate drug–morphine to fight it because in a study conducted by the Hull University it was found that patients whom morphine was prescribed responded quickly to the morphine treatment, which started at 5mg twice daily.
Interestingly, all these patients were suffering from persistent cough for at least three months.
This finding is definitely significant because chronic cough have several bad effects on a patient’s health as the following words of Dr Alyn Morice state:
Chronic cough can have a devastating effect on the quality of life of sufferers…this research provides evidence for the use of opiates in chronic cough.
However, we should not forget that during these trials some side effects like constipation, drowsiness also loomed out, so; move further by keeping these side effects too in your mind.
