FDA approved an anti-fungal drug- Noxafil, also called Posaconazole, that may prove useful to the patients with weak immune system unable to fight infection.
Noxafil may help fight infections caused by molds and funguses like Aspergillus and Candida. Patients aging 13 or above with bone marrow transplantations or reduced WBC count may also use the drug.
Besides curing infections, Noxafil delivers lots of side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, low potassium in blood levels, platelet counts, abnormalities in liver functioning etc.
Therefore, it is advisable to consult doctor before using the drug as sometimes side-effects can ruin health severely.
