40 people get food poisoning by consuming chocolate

About half a million Cadbury chocolate pieces are confirmed to be contaminated with salmonella bacteria in UK during past six months. There are some apprehensions that almost forty people have claimed to have food poisoning by consuming the contaminated chocolates. The Cadbury Company has taken out seven of its brands from the market.

There was a waste water pipe leakage at a chocolate factory that polluted the milk chocolate crumb that makes chocolate sweet. The Food Standards Agency claimed that the chocolate company ignored and kept it in secret. They were alerted but until then one million chocolate bars were gone for sale.

The problem was detected after an inquiry by the government’s Health Protection Agency. It was examining an outbreak of the salmonella ‘Montevideo’ bacteria among more than 40 people admitted in different hospitals in UK.
