This is a 5.1 channel home theater. 6.1 home theater adds one more rear speaker and a 7.1 home theater adds two more rear speakers. Depending on the brand, the sound effects and prices vary. Bose home theater is the best choice for those who are least bothered about price. For people looking at home theaters within reasonable prices Sony, LG, Samsung, Panasonic etc. home theaters are good options. One will get a warranty if one chooses a prepacked home theater and the installation will also be done by the dealer.The installer will arrange the speakers in such a way that the acoustics will be perfect. You cannot choose speakers of one brand and the sub woofer or player of other brand, it is the only drawback regarding prepacked home theaters.
2. Customizable: You can choose the speakers, player, sub woofer of different brands and assemble them to make your own home theater. You can choose among 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 and you have the flexibility to choose the brand that has the best component regarding speakers, player, sub woofer and choose among them. Depending upon the price and quality you can choose the components that suits you the best. Warranty may not be offered as you connect different brands together and installation may or may not be done by the dealer.
If you are well versed with all the music systems in the market, then go for a customized home theater where you have a choice to select the product of your choice. If you are not well aware, then go for a prefixed home theater where you need not worry about customizing it on your own.
These home theaters can be connected to projector, television, DVD player etc. depending on your choice. Wires may be annoying and often spoil the look of a home theater. In such case, a wireless home theater is the perfect solution. In wireless home theaters speakers, player, and sub woofer are connected via bluetooth. If you don’t have a lot of space for all the speakers you can use sound bars, which are generally 40 inch long that can be hung on the wall or placed on a shelf. These bars contain 2 to 5 speakers in a single enclosure. You can use different kinds of acoustic treatment for your home theater such as absorbers, reflectors, and diffusers. Absorbers trap sounds of particular frequencies, reflectors reflect the sounds, diffusers scatter sound in various directions. By using these 3 techniques the sound effects will be perfect and you will not have problems of excess bass, sudden increase in pitch etc. Use carpet on the floor, it acts as an absorber.
